About

Xiaoqi Mu is a robotics researcher whose work spans legged locomotion systems and assistive robotic technologies, with a particular focus on improving quality of life for aging populations. His early research investigated quadruped bionic robots, developing geometric approaches to stable workspace analysis and novel kinematic methods for four-legged locomotion, laying a strong foundation in biomechanical robot design. Mu's most sustained and impactful contribution, however, lies in the development of multifunctional elderly-assistant and walking-assistant robots (EWR), a body of work that has collectively garnered over 50 citations. Across numerous publications, he has advanced the field through structural design optimization, fuzzy logic control for intelligent movement, PID-based motor control, ultrasonic sensor-driven obstacle avoidance, and dynamic modeling for fall prevention. Notably, his investigations into vibration characteristics of human-robot coupled systems — examining both walking and transporting postures — address the often-overlooked dimension of user comfort and safety. Mu's research reflects a comprehensive, systems-level approach to eldercare robotics, integrating mechanical design, control theory, and human-robot interaction to produce practical solutions for one of society's most pressing demographic challenges.
