About
Zainan Jiang is a prominent robotics researcher whose work spans space robotics, robot learning, motion planning, and hybrid terrestrial-aerial systems. Best known for his comprehensive 2023 review of space robots for on-orbit servicing — already amassed 139 citations — Jiang has made foundational contributions to understanding how autonomous systems can inspect, capture, refuel, and repair satellites, as well as assemble large space infrastructure and remove orbital debris. His research extends to robot learning from demonstration for path planning (53 citations) and the development of intelligent motion planning algorithms, including a dual fast marching tree approach enabling human-like movement in anthropomorphic robotic arms.
