About
Jae‐Han Park is a prominent robotics researcher whose work spans robotic manipulation, dexterous robotic hands, motion planning, and intelligent robot systems. Based at the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), Park has made transformative contributions to industrial and service robotics over more than two decades. Park is perhaps best known for pioneering compliance-based robotic peg-in-hole assembly strategies that eliminate the need for costly force/torque sensors, a landmark 2017 paper that has garnered nearly 200 citations and reshaped how engineers approach contact-rich assembly tasks. Complementing this work, his development of the KITECH-Hand — a highly dexterous, anthropomorphic modular robotic hand — has become a foundational reference in the field, accumulating over 140 citations since 2016. Beyond hardware innovation, Park has been at the forefront of applying deep reinforcement learning to robot motion planning, tackling complex challenges such as multi-arm coordination and dynamic obstacle avoidance using algorithms including TD3 with hindsight experience replay and soft actor-critic methods.
