Chong-Moo Lee is a pioneering researcher in underwater robotics, with a career spanning from the late 1990s to the present. His primary research areas include autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), navigation and control systems, and specialized robotic platforms for challenging marine environments. Lee’s most significant contribution is the development of the deep-sea unmanned underwater vehicle "HEMIRE," for which he designed a hybrid navigation system integrating strap-down inertial measurement units (IMU) for precise positioning, guidance, and control.
