About
Masaru Hashimoto is a pioneering robotics researcher whose career spans foundational work in robotic sensing, actuation, and human-robot interaction. His most influential contributions center on joint torque sensing for robots equipped with harmonic drives — a technique he introduced in 1993 (111 citations) that cleverly exploits the inherent elasticity of flexsplines to measure torque without compromising mechanical stiffness or requiring structural modifications.
