Makoto Jinno is a robotics researcher whose work spans two transformative domains: industrial finishing automation and surgical robotics. His early career focused on force-controlled robotic systems for grinding, chamfering, and polishing, developing task-oriented robot languages that enabled machines to adaptively follow workpiece edges — a breakthrough for handling cast components that vary in size and shape.
