About

A. Fujimori is a robotics researcher whose work has made significant contributions to mobile robot navigation, collision avoidance, and multi-robot coordination. Over more than two decades of sustained research, Fujimori has developed foundational techniques that address core challenges in autonomous robot operation within dynamic and unstructured environments. Fujimori's most influential contribution is the concept of "adaptive navigation," introduced in 1997 and cited 76 times, which incorporates robot dynamics into local navigation while requiring only minimal environmental sensing — specifically, distance measurements to nearby obstacles. Building on this foundation, a 2000 paper (60 citations) introduced "cooperative collision avoidance" for multiple mobile robots, establishing geometric criteria for collision detection and coordinated evasive behavior. These two works form the intellectual backbone of Fujimori's research program.
