Seunghak Shin is a leading figure in humanoid robotics, best known for his pivotal role in Team KAIST’s historic victory at the 2015 DARPA Robotics Challenge (DRC) Finals. His core research focuses on whole-body robot control, real-time perception, and autonomous navigation for disaster-response robots. Shin’s most significant contribution is the design and control strategy of the DRC-HUBO+, a humanoid robot capable of driving a vehicle, climbing stairs, and manipulating tools in degraded communication conditions.
