About
Kwangmok Jung is a pioneering figure in soft robotics and biomimetic actuation, whose work bridges the gap between artificial muscles and practical robotic systems. His research focuses on dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) and ionic polymer–metal composites (IPMCs), with a strong emphasis on bio-inspired locomotion and sensor integration. Jung’s most influential contribution is the “Artificial annelid robot driven by soft actuators” (2007, 237 citations), which demonstrated how segmented, undulatory motion inspired by earthworms could be replicated using soft materials—a foundational study for soft robotics.
