Yoo-Sun Kim is a rising leader in the field of wearable robotics, with a primary focus on the design and real-world application of exosuits. Her research centers on two critical challenges: creating hardware that is both powerful and unobtrusive, and developing intelligent control systems that can adapt to users outside the lab. In her highly cited 2023 work, "Design of a Quasi-Direct Drive Actuator with Embedded Pulley for a Compact, Lightweight, and High-Bandwidth Exosuit," Kim tackled the fundamental trade-off between actuator performance and bulkiness.
