About
Tohru Tani is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of robotics and rehabilitation medicine, whose work spans from precise indoor localization systems to cutting-edge neurorehabilitation. His early foundational contribution, "A new home robot positioning system (HRPS) using IR switched multi ultrasonic sensors" (2003, 41 citations), introduced a novel, high-speed method for mobile robot localization by fusing ultrasonic and infrared signals—a technique that remains influential for autonomous navigation in domestic environments.
