About
Thomio Watanabe is a leading researcher in autonomous underwater robotics, with a primary focus on the development and deployment of inspection-class autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). His most significant contribution is the design and realization of FlatFish, a compact, subsea-resident AUV engineered for the autonomous inspection of underwater industrial structures, such as oil and gas pipelines and offshore wind farm foundations.
