Paul M. Novotny is a biomedical robotics and medical imaging researcher whose work sits at the intersection of surgical robotics, ultrasound guidance, and autonomous instrument control. Best known for his pioneering contributions to robot-assisted beating heart surgery, Novotny has tackled one of cardiac surgery's most formidable challenges: enabling precise surgical intervention on a continuously moving, living heart.
