About

Jingze Xue is a rising innovator in the field of soft robotics, specializing in the design and control of multi-responsive soft actuators and biomimetic robots. Their research centers on integrating magnetic, optical, and thermal stimuli to create untethered, programmable soft machines capable of complex shape deformation and multimodal locomotion. Xue’s major contributions include the development of Janus soft actuators with on–off switchable behaviors for controllable oil-driven manipulation (24 citations), and a magnetically actuated soft robot inspired by molluscs that achieves multi-locomotion through spatial magnetic fields (21 citations). They have also pioneered optically responsive hydrogels for rapid deformation and motion regulation of magnetic actuators (12 citations), and optomagnetic coordination helical robots with independent posture control and shape transformation (10 citations). Their work on untethered biomimetic actuators with programmable shape deformation and localized maneuverability further demonstrates their impact. With over 80 total citations and a growing portfolio of high-impact publications, Xue is advancing the frontier of soft robotics toward adaptive, autonomous systems for applications in manipulation, exploration, and biomedical devices.
