About
G. Chincarini is a pioneering astrophysicist whose career has been defined by the development of rapid-response robotic telescopes for studying the most energetic explosions in the universe: Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). His central contribution is the conception and realization of the Rapid Eye Mount (REM) telescope, a fully robotic, fast-slewing facility at La Silla Observatory, Chile. Chincarini’s work solved a critical observational challenge: capturing the prompt, near-infrared (NIR) afterglow of GRBs within seconds of their detection by satellites like Swift.
