About
Erna Alfi Nurrohmah is a robotics researcher whose work centers on autonomous robot systems, computer vision, and intelligent control — with a particular focus on soccer robotics within competitive international frameworks. Based at Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS), she has been a key contributor to the development of ERSOW (EEPIS Robot Soccer on Wheeled), an autonomous wheeled robot designed to compete in RoboCup's prestigious Middle Size League (MSL). Her most influential contribution, cited 22 times, demonstrates sophisticated feature detection using omnidirectional cameras to enable real-time field awareness in soccer robots. Complementing this, her work on sensor fusion — integrating encoders, inertial sensors, and image data for pose estimation (16 citations) — addresses one of the most technically demanding challenges in mobile robotics: knowing precisely where a robot is and how it is oriented in a dynamic environment. Beyond perception, Nurrohmah has advanced robot autonomy through research in dynamic obstacle avoidance, ball speed stabilization using low-pass filtering, and vision system optimization via the Robot Operating System (ROS). Collectively, her publications reflect a holistic approach to building competitive, intelligent soccer robots, making her an emerging voice in applied robotics and autonomous systems research.
