Seungjoon Choi is a robotics researcher whose work spans several interconnected domains, including visual servoing, compliant manipulation, mobile robot control, and underwater robotics. His most influential contribution, an image-based visual servoing framework employing sliding mode control (2006, 28 citations), introduced a robust nonlinear controller capable of handling parameter uncertainties more effectively than classical approaches — a meaningful advance for camera-guided robotic systems operating in real-world conditions.
