Se Young Oh is a pioneering roboticist whose research has fundamentally shaped the control and sensing strategies for locomotion, manipulation, and autonomous mobile robots. His most influential work, the 1981 paper "Control of Force Distribution in Robotic Mechanisms Containing Closed Kinematic Chains" (220 citations), established a core theoretical framework for solving the critical problem of distributing forces in systems like walking robots and multi-fingered grippers. Later, Oh demonstrated his commitment to practical, real-world robotics with his work on "Feature localization using neural networks for cleaning robots with ultrasonic sensors" (2007).
