Raymond Wai Man Ng is a robotics researcher whose work centers on underactuated systems, robot locomotion, and safety in dynamic environments. His primary research areas include inertial appendage control—using tails and reaction wheels—for spatial reorientation during falls, as well as the development of accessible robotic platforms for education. Ng’s major contribution lies in demonstrating how underactuated robots can leverage simple mechanical components to regain stability and maneuverability when airborne, a critical capability for enhancing robot mobility and preventing damage.
