About
Naofumi Tanaka is a pioneering roboticist whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of minimally invasive surgery. His primary research focuses on the development of novel, assemblable robotic instruments designed to overcome the inherent limitations of traditional laparoscopic tools. Tanaka’s most significant contribution is the creation of the "IBIS IV" pneumatic surgical manipulator, a teleoperated system that directly addresses the critical challenge of force measurement and haptic feedback in robotic surgery.
