About
Li Tao is a leading researcher at the intersection of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), bioinspired robotics, and flexible electronics. His most impactful work includes the development of a multiplexing design for dual-mode TENGs, creating a flexible, skin-like tactile sensor that advances artificial intelligence and robotic perception—a paper cited over 170 times. Tao has also pioneered conductive porous MXene-based sensors for precise gesture motion monitoring, enabling reliable, wide-range joint movement detection for human-machine interfaces. His contributions extend to bioinspired wall-climbing robots capable of adhering to multiple and rough surfaces, with designs validated through modeling and experimentation. More recently, Tao has explored stretchable MXene hydrogel temperature sensors that resist deformation from pressing or bending, offering robust solutions for wearable healthcare, plant monitoring, and noncontact physiological sensing. With a portfolio of highly cited works, Tao’s innovations in smart tactile sensing, motion tracking, and adaptive robotics are driving next-generation applications in prosthetics, human behavior analysis, and environmental monitoring, positioning him as a key figure in the advancement of intelligent, bionic systems.
