Kosuke Ishikawa’s research bridges robotics, spatial informatics, and biomechanics, with a focus on autonomous surveillance and surgical assistance. His early work pioneered the integration of mobile robots with spatial-temporal Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for security applications. In his most cited paper (14 citations), he developed an autonomous mobile surveillance system that wirelessly collects and updates spatial-temporal data in complex environments like factory premises. This foundational study led to further advances in parking-vehicle recognition using omni-directional motion stereo and 3D-GIS data, enabling robust change detection and dense depth mapping.
