Jill D. Crisman is a pioneering robotics researcher whose work spans autonomous vehicle navigation, computer vision, and assistive robotics. Best known for her foundational contributions to color-based road detection, Crisman developed SCARF (1993, 244 citations), a landmark vision system capable of recognizing roads and intersections under challenging real-world conditions including degraded surfaces and variable weather.
