About

Guozhen Li is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of flexible electronics, tactile sensing, and human-robot interaction, whose work has fundamentally advanced how machines perceive and respond to the physical world. Li's research focuses on developing sophisticated electronic skin (e-skin) systems, multifunctional tactile sensors, and stretchable conductive materials that endow robots with human-like sensory capabilities. Among Li's most celebrated contributions is the development of quadruple tactile sensors integrated onto robot hands, enabling precise object recognition through grasping — a landmark 2020 study that has garnered an impressive 449 citations, underscoring its transformative influence on the field. Complementing this work, Li has pioneered self-powered e-skin systems that harness thermoelectric conversion for continuous multisensory monitoring, eliminating the need for external power sources in wearable applications. Li has also made meaningful strides in addressing practical engineering challenges, including temperature drift compensation in flexible sensors and high-fidelity dynamic strain monitoring in printable conductive elastomers. More recently, Li's research has pushed toward safer, more dexterous human-robot collaboration through haptic e-skin systems with intelligent control capabilities. With over 800 cumulative citations, Li's body of work represents a significant contribution to the future of robotics, wearable health technology, and smart prosthetics.
