F. Louveau’s research career bridges two distinct but equally impactful domains: hydraulic servoactuation and robotic assistance in surgery. In foundational work on hydraulic manipulators, Louveau developed dynamic models and identification methods for hydraulic servoactuators (1997), culminating in a 2003 study on technology and control for these systems—still cited 11 times for its practical insights. This expertise later informed a pivot to medical robotics, where Louveau addressed a critical ergonomic challenge in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). A 2021 paper on fall detection for robotic endoscope holders tackles the muscle fatigue and tremor that plague surgical assistants forced into awkward, static postures for hours.
