About
Chae-Soon Lee is a leading figure in macromolecular crystallography, driving the advancement of synchrotron beamline technology at the Pohang Light Source II (PLS-II) in Korea. His primary research focuses on the design, construction, and optimization of high-performance X-ray beamlines for structural biology. Lee’s major contributions include spearheading the development of BL-11C Micro-MX, a high-flux microfocus beamline specifically engineered to tackle the challenging diffraction of micrometre-sized protein crystals. This state-of-the-art facility, which became operational in 2017, delivers an intense, tunable beam (5.0–20 keV) and has already garnered 28 citations for its transformative impact on the field.
