About

Wenhang Liu is a pioneering roboticist whose research focuses on multi-robot systems, motion planning, and cooperative manipulation. His work addresses fundamental challenges in coordinating multiple mobile robots to perform complex tasks under formation and obstacle constraints. Liu’s most impactful contribution is his novel graph-based motion planner for multi-mobile robot systems with formation and obstacle constraints, which has garnered 32 citations and provides a framework for determining feasible robot motions in constrained environments. He has also made significant advances in object transport using deformable sheets held by multiple robots, developing computational models for object-sheet interactions that have accumulated 30 citations. His feature-based hybrid topological map (FHT-Map) for relocalization and path planning represents another notable achievement, offering real-time map construction with minimal storage requirements. Liu’s work extends to complex flipping manipulation with multiple mobile manipulators and distributed formation controllers with multi-obstacle avoidance. With papers published from 2022 to 2025, his research trajectory demonstrates rapid impact in the multi-robot systems community, addressing critical problems in formation control, mutual localization, and containment control under time-varying delays.
