About

N. Tyurina is a pioneering astrophysicist whose career has been defined by the development and scientific exploitation of the MASTER Global Robotic Network, a system of fully automated optical telescopes. Her key research areas encompass the rapid follow-up of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), the polarimetric and photometric study of their afterglows, and the long-term monitoring of active galactic nuclei (AGN). Tyurina’s major contributions include co-authoring the foundational papers on the MASTER system’s equipment and algorithms (over 100 combined citations), which enabled the first Russian robotic observations of GRB optical counterparts and the discovery of an optical flare from GRB 060926. Her work on the changing-look AGN NGC 2617, involving multiwavelength reverberation mapping from 2016-2022, has been highly influential, as has her spectropolarimetry of GRB 191221B using the Southern African Large Telescope.
