About
Anastasios Tsiamis is a robotics and control systems researcher whose work sits at the intersection of multi-robot coordination, decentralized control, and secure communication. He is perhaps best known for his pioneering contributions to cooperative manipulation using implicit communication — a paradigm in which robots coordinate physical tasks without exchanging explicit messages, relying instead on force and motion cues transmitted through shared objects. His highly cited 2015 paper on this topic has accumulated 56 citations and established a foundational framework for leader-follower architectures in which only the leading robot possesses knowledge of the desired trajectory. Tsiamis extended this framework to nonholonomic mobile robots navigating object transportation tasks, and further integrated high-level goal specifications through temporal logic formulas, enabling decentralized agents to satisfy complex behavioral objectives without direct communication. More recently, his 2019 work on motion planning with secrecy introduced privacy-preserving guarantees into robotic trajectory tracking, addressing emerging concerns around secure human-robot and robot-robot communication. Collectively, his research advances the theoretical and practical boundaries of autonomous multi-robot systems, making it particularly relevant for students exploring decentralized robotics, formal methods, and cyber-secure autonomy.
