About

A. Krylov is a pioneering figure in time-domain astrophysics, best known for his central role in developing and operating the MASTER Global Robotic Net, a network of robotic optical telescopes designed for rapid follow-up of transient cosmic events. His key research areas include gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), gravitational-wave counterparts, and high-energy astrophysical phenomena. Krylov’s most impactful contribution came in 2017, when MASTER obtained the first optical image of the host galaxy of GW170817, the landmark neutron star merger detected by LIGO/Virgo. That work, with 227 citations, provided critical early confirmation of the electromagnetic counterpart to a gravitational-wave source. He also led the early optical identification of the Fermi GBM GRB 140801A, demonstrating MASTER’s unique ability to rapidly scan large error boxes. His foundational 2011 paper on MASTER’s equipment and algorithms (73 citations) and his 2004 introduction of the first Russian robotic telescope for GRB follow-up (28 citations) established the technical backbone for a network that now spans multiple continents.
