About
Spoorthi Singh is a rising researcher at the forefront of bio-inspired robotics, with a focus on micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) and multi-terrain locomotion. Her work centers on solving the fundamental challenge of replicating insect flight through innovative flapping actuation mechanisms. Singh’s most impactful contribution is the development and experimental validation of a single crank–slotted dual lever mechanism for MAV flapping actuation (2022, 6 citations), which addresses the dual demands of lightweight construction and minimal interconnections in artificial flapping-wing robots. She has further advanced this field through studies of X-pattern crank-activated 4-bar fast return mechanisms (2023) and sliding lever configurations (2024), collectively establishing a design framework for efficient flapping systems. Expanding beyond aerial robotics, Singh has demonstrated versatility through multi-physics optimization of a suction-enabled autonomous grass-cutter robot (2025) and kinematic analysis of quad and hexa-legged systems for hazardous environment navigation.
