About

Siying Liu is an emerging materials scientist and biomedical engineer whose research sits at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, smart materials, and next-generation wearable technologies. Her work centers on leveraging cutting-edge 3D printing techniques—particularly continuous liquid interface production (CLIP) and additive manufacturing—to fabricate functional materials with unprecedented precision and versatility. Liu's most recognized contribution involves the selective deposition and preferential alignment of Ti₃C₂Tₓ MXene nanosheets onto complex three-dimensional substrates, enabling tunable material properties for applications in wearable health monitoring, soft robotics, and human–machine interfaces. This work has attracted 44 citations, underscoring its significance to the field. Equally impactful is her development of high-speed, high-resolution 3D-printed self-healing and ion-conductive hydrogels via micro-CLIP technology, garnering 32 citations and advancing the design of ionotronic devices capable of autonomous damage repair. Her more recent investigations into electroactive hydrogels further extend these capabilities toward responsive biosensors and soft actuators. Collectively, Liu's research addresses critical fabrication challenges in smart material design, offering scalable pathways to embed electrical, mechanical, and biological functionality into complex structures—work that holds considerable promise for the future of bioelectronics and intelligent soft systems.
