Ruqing Yang’s research lies at the intersection of robotics, mechatronics, and intelligent control, with a strong focus on developing practical robotic systems for hazardous environments. A central theme of Yang’s work is the design and control of robots for high-voltage live-line cleaning, where contributions include a novel radius-variable gripper with a single degree of freedom and a vision system using SUSAN edge-based scale invariant features for insulator recognition.
