Rui Chen is a robotics researcher whose work spans robot manipulation, 6-DoF grasp detection, embodied AI, and physics-based simulation. His early landmark contribution, "S4G: Amodal Single-view Single-Shot SE(3) Grasp Detection in Cluttered Scenes" (2019, 55 citations), tackled one of robotics' most enduring challenges by developing a learning-based approach that enables robots to identify stable grasps from a single depth sensor viewpoint in cluttered environments — a practically critical capability for real-world deployment.
