Nozomi Hayashida is a pioneering roboticist working at the intersection of telepresence, human-robot interaction, and immersive communication. Her research fundamentally reimagines how people connect across physical and digital spaces, introducing novel robotic platforms that bridge the gap between the real world and the metaverse. Hayashida’s most influential work, “MetaPo: A Robotic Meta Portal for Interspace Communication” (2022, 5 citations), presents a mobile robot with a spherical display and 360° media I/O that functions as a dynamic portal between physical-physical, cyber-cyber, and cyber-physical environments.
