About
Michael V. Jakuba is a leading researcher in underwater robotics and ocean exploration, renowned for pushing the boundaries of autonomous and remotely operated vehicle technology in some of Earth's most extreme and inaccessible environments. His work spans deep-sea exploration, under-ice navigation, and oceanographic sensing, with a particular focus on developing robotic systems capable of operating where conventional tools cannot reach. Jakuba played a pivotal role in the development of the Nereus hybrid underwater vehicle—capable of diving to 11,000 meters—contributing to both its design and its sophisticated navigation and control systems (102 and 46 citations, respectively).
