Lucile Zorn is a leading roboticist whose work sits at the critical intersection of flexible endoscopy and surgical robotics, with a primary focus on advancing minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery. Her most significant contribution is the development of the STRAS (Single-port and Telerobotic Assistance System) platform, a modular, telemanipulated robotic system designed to overcome the limitations of standard flexible endoscopes. This work directly addresses the extreme difficulty of procedures like Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), a key treatment for early-stage colorectal cancer.
