About
Hyun-Joong Chung is a leading researcher at the intersection of soft robotics, biomedical engineering, and flexible electronics. His work centers on developing mechanically intelligent materials that mimic the complex behavior of biological tissues. A major contribution is his pioneering use of fabric-reinforced elastomer composites to replicate the "J-shaped" strain-stiffening and anisotropic properties of human arteries, directly addressing the problem of tissue damage at the junctions of life-support devices.
