Genrong Liu is a pioneering astronomer whose work has significantly advanced our understanding of the universe from the most extreme observatory on Earth—Dome A, Antarctica. His primary research focuses on high-precision optical astronomy, stellar variability, and the development of automated survey telescopes in harsh polar environments. Liu’s most notable contribution came as a key member of the Chinese Small Telescope ARray (CSTAR) team, leading to the landmark 2010 paper "The First Release of the CSTAR Point Source Catalog from Dome A, Antarctica" (40 citations).
