About
G. Attolico is an Italian robotics and artificial intelligence researcher whose career spans more than three decades, with sustained contributions to autonomous navigation, fuzzy control systems, and distributed sensor networks. Beginning in the early 1990s with foundational work on vision-based vehicle navigation, Attolico pioneered the application of fuzzy logic to reactive robot controllers — developing methods for automatically generating fuzzy rules directly from training data, work that has accumulated over 30 citations and remains a touchstone in behavior-based robotics. His research expanded into practical autonomous systems, including optimizing pose estimation algorithms for indoor navigation and enabling mobile robots to construct accurate 2D and 3D environmental models on the fly.
