Anthony Spears is a pioneering polar roboticist whose work focuses on the development and deployment of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) for extreme environment exploration, particularly beneath Antarctic ice shelves and glaciers. His major contributions center on the Icefin unmanned underwater vehicle, which he helped design and operate to access some of the most inaccessible regions on Earth.
