X Chen is a leading astrophysicist specializing in active galactic nuclei (AGN) and their dramatic variability, particularly the phenomenon of "changing-look" events. Chen’s major contribution lies in the long-term, multiwavelength monitoring of these enigmatic objects, most notably through a landmark study of NGC 2617.
