Mami Nishida is a robotics researcher whose work spans two distinct but equally fascinating domains: space robotics and bio-inspired locomotion systems. Early in her career, Nishida made significant contributions to Japan's ambitious ETS-VII satellite program under NASDA, helping develop specialized end-effectors, grapple fixtures, and tools for space-mounted robotic arms capable of handling diverse experimental payloads in orbit. This pioneering work in space robotics, which has garnered over 22 citations, addressed the fundamental challenge of designing versatile manipulation systems for the demanding constraints of microgravity environments.
