About
Gyowook Shin is a pioneering researcher in soft robotics and stretchable electronics, whose work sits at the intersection of advanced materials, sensing technologies, and human-robot interaction. Best known for developing multifunctional soft sensors capable of detecting multiple types of physical stimuli simultaneously — work that has garnered over 220 citations — Shin addresses a critical limitation in the field where most compact sensors could previously register only a single deformation mode. Drawing inspiration from biological mechanoreceptors and proprioceptors, this research has significantly advanced the sophistication of robotic tactile systems.
