About
Cheng-Hui Li is a materials scientist and engineer whose research sits at the intersection of smart polymers, self-healing materials, and flexible electronics. With a body of work spanning wearable devices, soft robotics, and wireless communication systems, Li has made significant contributions to the development of next-generation functional materials that combine mechanical resilience with autonomous repair capabilities. Li's most influential contribution, a 2018 paper on elastic self-healing capacitive sensors based on dynamic dual crosslinked chemical systems, has amassed 393 citations, underscoring its foundational impact on the field of stretchable electronics. This work demonstrated how self-healing elastomers could serve as reliable substrates for wearable sensors and touch interfaces. Building on this foundation, Li has explored magnetic nanocomposites for self-healing actuators, 3D-printable silicone elastomers, and stretchable polyurethane electrodes complexed with lanthanide ions — advancing the practical deployment of electronic skin and human-machine interfaces. Beyond soft materials, Li has also contributed to IoT-integrated automated packaging systems using adaptive optimization algorithms. Collectively, his research addresses durability, adaptability, and multifunctionality in modern electronics, making him a notable voice in the rapidly evolving landscape of intelligent, resilient material systems.
