Chao Hu is a versatile robotics and sensing researcher whose work spans human-machine interaction, medical robotics, underwater localization, and emerging wearable technologies. His early contributions in the mid-2000s established a strong foundation in robotic systems design: his widely cited survey on wireless robotic capsule endoscopy (108 citations) helped shape the trajectory of minimally invasive medical devices by mapping both commercial products and research frontiers, while his complementary work on visual gesture recognition (71 citations) advanced intuitive teleoperation interfaces for mobile robots using hand gesture commands.
