About
Wuxu Zhang is pioneering the next generation of flexible, stretchable sensors and electronic materials—critical components for wearable electronics, soft robotics, and extreme-environment applications. His research centers on 3D-printed flexible pressure sensors, solar-blind ultraviolet photodetectors, and electromagnetic shielding materials, with a particular focus on maintaining device performance under mechanical strain. Zhang’s most impactful work, a 2023 study on structural design and DLP 3D printing for high-strain stable pressure sensors, has garnered 54 citations and addresses a key limitation in wearable force sensing. He has extended this expertise to deep-sea environments, developing a highly sensitive 3D-printed sensor capable of detecting small pressures in high-pressure underwater settings (14 citations). Notably, Zhang has also created self-supported β-Ga₂O₃ nanowire-based stretchable UV photodetectors (11 citations) for fire rescue robots, and high-performance, strain-stable electromagnetic shielding materials using magnetic elastic fiber networks (10 citations). His recent innovations include flexible solar-blind UV photodetectors with nanowire channel bridge structures that combine high responsivity with strain stability. With a rapidly growing citation record, Zhang is establishing himself as a leading figure in advanced manufacturing for resilient, high-performance flexible electronics.
