Yonghua Zhang’s research sits at the intersection of agricultural robotics and bio-inspired underwater propulsion, with a focus on developing intelligent systems that mimic nature. In agricultural robotics, Zhang created a pioneering blueberry ripeness detection algorithm for picking robots (2023, 34 citations), addressing the critical shortage of skilled harvesters by enabling automated, vision-based identification of ripe fruit.
