Tadao Matsunaga is a pioneer in the development of smart, minimally invasive medical instruments, with a primary focus on micro-robotic tools and advanced force-sensing technologies. His work centers on integrating shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators into surgical devices, enabling active, controllable bending mechanisms for catheters, guide wires, and endoscopes without relying on traditional, complex cable-driven shafts.
