Siyi Bi is a rising leader in the field of smart materials and soft robotics, with a primary focus on liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) and their application in advanced actuators and smart textiles. Bi’s major contributions center on engineering LCE fibers and yarns that achieve unprecedented performance—such as the development of large-torque, fast-response electrothermal-motivated twisted yarn actuators, which have already garnered 8 citations since 2024.
